Shannon Pelcher-Rao is a graduate of New York University’s Masters of Music Therapy Program. Shannon works exclusively out of our Bushwick office and in addition to her individual work with children and adults, will be enriching the New York Creative Arts Therapists program offerings with groups for adults and new parents. She has worked with a variety of populations and in diverse settings including a hospital, day program and music therapy center. Shannon studied English literature and jazz guitar while completing her Bachelor of Arts at Temple University. She completed her graduate internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Shannon is an ardent believer in the powerful role music plays in helping to foster connection, possibility and community. Shannon approaches music therapy with a focus on the process of using musical experiences and the relationships that develop through them as a resource for change.
